I was feeling very free when I painted this piece. I was working on a series of paintings for an exhibit in New York, and had a patron who was supporting me while I worked on the collection, It was as though all these positive energies converged onto the paper.
Part of the Ascending series, it is an exquisite and beguiling embodiment of the concept of liberation, this artwork portrays an abstract rose traversing the universe. I love the timeless, hand-rendered border.
