175 Little Artists Explore Big Values. Our first big art workshop at a school!

I created posters for the presentation from the coloring pages in their workbook

💛 Introducing the Workshop

After the principal welcomed us, I introduced myself to the children and shared that I’m an artist — and I created this special coloring book just for you!

Each child received two books:

  • A “How to Make Good Choices” booklet to take home and share with their parents
  • Their very own coloring book, designed to explore values through joyful art

I asked the children to hold up their booklets — and they all did! It was such a sweet moment of shared excitement.

I let them know that this was a very special art workshop about loving and helping our parents. I read aloud from page 12 of How to Make Good Choices:

“Try to help your parents when you can. Parents really like it when their children offer to help them. Even if they say no to the help, they still like that you offer it.”

The children were eager to share their own examples of how they help at home — and their ideas were wonderful!

Next, we moved on to helping your parents by taking care of yourself.

🐻 The Bear Was a Big Hit!
The kids loved the poster of the bear brushing his teeth!
Many of them even drew their own bear at the sink — it was absolutely adorable.
I actually created that bear after designing the coloring book, so it was a fun surprise addition. As a thank-you for the teachers’ beautiful testimonials, I’m planning to gift them a printable coloring page of the bear for their students.
I think it will bring a lot of smiles!

They gave great examples.  Brush your hair!  Eat snacks!  Wash you face!

☀️ Be Truthful — and Shine!

It was finally time to talk about being truthful — and how telling the truth helps our parents.

I asked the children:
“What should you tell your parents if they ask you, ‘Did you brush your teeth?’”
They all shouted, “YES!!!” — so cute!

Then I asked,
“But what if you didn’t brush your teeth? What should you say?”
A few of them, a bit more timidly, called out, “No...”
And I said, “That’s right!”

We talked about how telling the truth makes us happy — and I drew a big sunshine smiley face to show a happy person who tells the truth.

Then came the art activity! I showed them how to make their own sunshiny smiley face:

“Grab your yellow!”
They all picked up their yellow markers and held them up proudly.
“Make a crazy, crazy circle with yellow — big, jagged lines!”
“Great! Now grab your orange marker! Make big, jagged lines around the yellow — crazy, crazy, crazy!”
“Then red, then purple, then blue!”
Finally, I suggested they add a big happy face in the center of their sunshiny smiley face.

They did an amazing job — each one unique, joyful, and full of truth!

This cute little artist says it all!

And look at this creative take on the sunburst idea!!

This workshop is the BEST idea I have ever seen in a school setting!! These 3 precepts are so key to a child’s creativity in their family setting and I am over the top impressed with everything shown here!! Well done Kathy, Jacques and everyone else who participated!!

I cannot think of a better way to engage children, and give them empowering information so they know how to move forward as they grow up. I love that this applies to anyone (no specific religion) and how much fun the children have. Thank you Kathy!

Thank you Kathy, Jack and your team. We really appreciate you working with our students on our tight schedule. It was meaningful for all of us. We would love to have you back again, but for a longer period of time, next time.

What a gift you are giving to students, Kathy! I hope that many schools experience all that you have to share!
