"Gentle Resilience" Mixed media on watercolor paper

Gentle Resilience

Painted in watercolor, crayon, and ink on archival paper, Gentle Resilience emerged from a flowing, intuitive moment. I was simply following the rhythm of color and line, letting the image unfold without resistance. The process felt like moving with a current — steady, calm, and quietly determined.

By Canadian Artist Kathy Poitras

Medium: Watercolor, crayon, and ink

Artwork Image Size: 11 x 17 inches on a 12 x 18-inch surface.

The actual paper is 140-pound Strathmore cold pressed watercolor paper, folded in half like a giant art card to accommodate an alternate display style: The oversized, acid‑free watercolor paper acts as a natural frame, making the piece easy to display on a shelf, easel, or within a  frame.

Finish: Light texture from crayon and ink adds depth and character to the soft watercolor forms.
