Gentle Resilience
Painted in watercolor, crayon, and ink on archival paper, Gentle Resilience emerged from a flowing, intuitive moment. I was simply following the rhythm of color and line, letting the image unfold without resistance. The process felt like moving with a current — steady, calm, and quietly determined. This piece invites viewers to linger and find their own meaning within its movement and mood, discovering what resilience might look like to them.
By Canadian Artist Kathy Poitras
Medium: Watercolor, crayon, and ink
Artwork Image Size: 11 x 17 inches on a 12 x 18-inch surface.
The actual paper is 140-pound arches cold pressed watercolor paper, folded in half like a giant art card to accommodate an alternate display style: The oversized, acid‑free watercolor paper acts as a natural frame, making the piece easy to display on a shelf, easel, or within a frame.
Finish: Light texture from crayon and ink adds depth and character to the soft watercolor forms.
